Fastest play-through a campaign
I had to recently play through nightfall to get my Mesmer to some high level areas an I thought, why not, why not see how fast my time is comparable to everyone elses. I used no conset/conset parts except for a BU doing the Advocate (before we realized it was a secondary quest ). It took me 6 days and a little over 21 hours. I'll post a screen later

prophecy's can go even faster if you hire a run to the end.

there are some factors that might determine the time required. Because, for example, I teamed up with 6-7 of my guildies a couple of weeks ago and bashed NF, from kamadan primary quest (factions born character) to the end in no longer than about 7-8 hours? Not entirely sure, but roughly that. No skipping desolation or whatever, everything done by the books, admittedly we used a few bu's every now and then to speed it up. But then again, my necro already had max armor, weapon sets, and some skills unlocked, so it wasn't started from scratch.

Isn't that killing the game ? People pay a copy of guild wars (prophecies) to have fun, of course ; If your just rushing through the end because you did it 1,337 times, then I guess I understand.
Otherwise, it's killing the game. |

I'd have to partially agree with Prestige on this one. I suppose it can be interesting to see how fast you can do it, but what's the point?
I don't think it's "killing" the game, necessarily, but it's certainly wasting your money. Also, of course, realistically, how fast you can go through a campaign depends a lot upon what class you use, what heroes you have, what builds you and they use, etc, etc. On a related note, although it may be hard to come up with contests, the recent contest to win some costumes by doing Tahnaki Temple as fast as possible, also seems to be somewhat counterproductive to the general spirit of the game. It only rewards those who "play" the game in a particular manner - and I use the term "play" very loosely in this case, "abuse" might be a better word. |

Its possible to beat Factions in half a day.
I beat it on my rit in just 15 hours, and this was before PvE skills and heros. |

Proph should be fastest--pre-searing is quick, hire run to thunderhead keep, beat that, then the final three missions -> done. |

I've never purposely tried to see how fast I could beat a campaign. Back when Factions came out though, I remember myself and a large number of the guild I was in at the time finished Factions while still on the pre-order headstart (so we had beaten factions before the game actually went on sale and was available the next day or whatever advantage the headstart gave). This was obviously back before PvE skills, consumables, and simply looking up what to do on the wiki.
The whole "rushing/running through the game kills it" is complete bull. If anything, I'd argue it improves replayability for many people as you are able to essentially skip to the parts you actually want to play. Not everyone enjoys playing the game the same way. |

I think it would be fun to try and speed run through a campaign. Start out in that campaign, no twinking. Maybe some other rules like, say, no rushing, no getting help from high levels. Just depends on what you want to do.
An 8-man speed run of Prophecies would be great. Start off as two 4-mans, pick up Henchies for the 6-man missions, then group together for a full 8-man when you hit Dragon's Lair. Doing it all as fast as you can. I wonder, if people organized and put some time into figuring out the most efficient playthrough, how fast could you beat Prophecies? Any other campaign? EotN? Alternatively, if you got a big group together, 24-man it. start as 6 groups of 4, then 4 groups of 6, then 3 groups of 8. This gets rid of the need for henches in the 6-man areas, though it will result in some of the groups being split up. It'd also be much harder to organize, but since this is all just a pipe dream, who cares? |

I've spent a lot of my time in game trying to do things fastest, fastest /age upon level 20 was the last one I really went after and got it sub 40m but I feel a lot of that time could have been shed off .
Edit Found the Screenshot for my fastest 20=]. http://imageshack.us/f/706/gw039y.jpg/ It may be "Killing the game" so to speak for someone new to the game but to me optimizing times and doing things in the fastest manner possible is exciting. Slightly more on topic when working on the hall of monuments for some of my storage accounts using my main to run through campaigns the entire factions campaign was completed in just under 8 hours I believe, I know it was one day Nightfall maybe took 15 or 20 and prophecies and eye of the north I did so much "here and there" stuff I couldn't begin to guess. Also Wiki Wammo I've always wanted to do your idea with a group starting in prophecies doing there own thing hanging out in twos talking on vent and grouping up as the party size allowed until dragons lair of course. Personal limitations I've always wanted to put up is no storage, tomes, or trading. So the character is really only from what you've done in that group. If anyone is interested in that feel free to pm=] Last edited by Tried and Triumphed; Aug 17, 2011 at 05:49 AM // 05:49.. |

I remember a lot of people finishing both Factions and Nightfall on the days they came out. I know I finished Factions at around 11am est the next morning after the servers went live(think that was around 8 or 9pm). Nightfall took me a little longer to finish, think it was about 3pm the following day.

I just finished this today so I could get Elite Canthan armor for a Mercenary Hero:
I'd say about an hour of that was standing around in town. I'm sure people have done it much faster but I thought it was pretty quick. |
